The programme will involve selected young martial artists still undergoing formal education at schools, colleges, and universities, or otherwise registered as students for technical or professional qualifications; and will offer the opportunity to visit another country to gain experience of another culture and to participate in advanced martial arts training. All international travel and accommodation expenses will be paid by the programme.
2009
In 2009 the programme provided 10 fellowships for Zimbabwean students and Zambian students, to travel to Northampton. We have worked with the Kwok Meil Wah charity to enable this.
In 2009 the tailor-made programme comprised 2 parts:
• A five day martial arts educational programme in Northampton, in July, where recipients can meet local young people and pursue their studies in the martial arts under highly-qualified international teachers;
• A specially-designed cultural programme - introducing them to life, culture and language in the UK.
On their return, the recipients prepared a report about their trip to share what they have learnt.
